Split a PDF into multiple files using typed page ranges, Visual groups (click thumbnails to build output PDFs), or one file per page—with reorder, ZIP or separate downloads, all in your browser.

The Split PDF tool turns one document into several smaller PDFs. Order numbers on thumbnails match the range field: the first card is always order 1, the second is order 2, and reordering updates which original PDF page sits in each slot.

Define splits by typing comma-separated ranges, using Visual groups to click thumbnails and choose which pages export (each contiguous run of selected slots becomes one PDF; unselected pages are skipped), or choosing one PDF per page. In Visual groups, drag cards to reorder; short clicks still change selection. Download as one ZIP or separate PDFs. Previews load automatically after upload, similar to Merge PDF.

All parsing and export run locally in your browser. Files are not uploaded to a server, and you stay in control of your documents.

Upload a PDF
Use Choose files or drag a single PDF into the upload row. Replace file swaps the document. Clear removes it.

Review thumbnails
Page previews appear automatically. In Visual groups, drag a card to reorder, or use the hover side arrows. Range numbers refer to left-to-right order.

Choose split mode
Pick By page ranges for typed segments, Visual groups to select which pages go into each output PDF (click one, ⌘/Ctrl+click to toggle, Shift+click for a range), or One PDF per page for every thumbnail.

Pick packaging
Use ZIP download for one archive, or Separate PDFs if your browser allows multiple downloads.

: No. They use split order left to right. The Order pill on each card is 1, 2, 3, and so on. The filename line shows which original PDF page that card came from. Reorder first, then type ranges or select pages in Visual groups.
: You click thumbnails to include pages in the export. Each contiguous run of selected order positions becomes one output PDF; pages you leave unselected are skipped. Use a plain click for one slot, ⌘ or Ctrl+click to add or remove a page, and Shift+click to select a range from your last click. Drag a card to reorder. The range field updates to match, and you can switch to By page ranges to edit the text.
: No. The PDF is loaded and processed in your browser only. Nothing is sent to Very Simple Tools servers for splitting.
: Some browsers block multiple automatic downloads. Allow downloads for this site, or use ZIP download to get every part in one file.
: After upload, the tool suggests a single range covering every page in order. Edit it to create multiple segments, or switch to One PDF per page.
: Try re-exporting from the source app or another PDF. Damaged or encrypted files may fail. Your file is still not uploaded anywhere.
